I am a PhD Candidate in the Department of Media and Information at Michigan State University. I research how people make sense of the digital data that represents them. A primary question that I ask is, what happens when digital data about someone is at odds with their lived experience of what that data claims to represent? I focus on this question to understand the potentials and limits of data-centric representations that can present risks of social marginalization and discrimination.
I am grateful to the National Science Foundation for supporting my research.
